About history

ACU history students discussing their work on campus

Examine the past to navigate the future. Choose a history degree that gives you a global focus. ACU has been recognised for excellence in a number of subjects including arts and humanities and social sciences 1 and our history degrees will give you the opportunity to study European, American, Australian, Indigenous, Asian and ancient history. You'll be introduced to societies and cultures that have shaped the world as we know it today, and address themes such as war and peace, race and class, gender and sexuality, violence and terrorism, and film and popular culture. When you graduate you'll move into the workforce with in-demand analytical, written and communication skills.

Living history

See the past come to life as you walk the streets of Rome on an intensive study tour. Study history and you'll have the opportunity to complete a unit at our Rome Campus. You'll mix classroom learning with site visits and up-close experiences in a city that is constantly adapting around its own history. Our study tours cater to students interested in ancient history, the middle ages and modern Europe – and there may be the opportunity to extend your stay and complete a university core unit at the Rome Campus.
